Caffeine is frequently included to products that claim to aid in weight loss, but is there evidence to support these claims?

Nutritionist Hannah Hope says it's not known if coffee aids weight reduction. There are research indicating that coffee promotes weight loss, but not enough for a scientific consensus.

A 2019 meta-analysis of 13 randomized controlled trials on the effects of caffeine on weight loss concluded that caffeine consumption may promote weight, BMI, and body fat loss.

Not simply caffeine can impact coffee's metabolism. Theobromine, in coffee, enhances thermogenesis, which increases calorie burn.

Chlorogenic acid is a coffee polyphenol. This regulates glucose and lipid metabolism and may reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes. Also has anti-obesity benefits.

As a stimulant to the central nervous system, caffeine aids in weight loss. Your resting metabolic rate (RMR) can be boosted by a cup of coffee.

So, in terms of weight loss, include coffee if desired, but do so in moderation, and consider green tea too!

According to the National Institutes of Health, consuming up to 400 mg of caffeine per day is not dangerous for the majority of individuals.

Caffeine can be part of a healthy lifestyle, but excessive consumption is unhealthy. Additionally, coffee may be a poor choice for migraine sufferers.
